Biography
Before joining VOX, Hahn spent four years at Sprint Nextel where he led all of the telecom’s CSR and sustainability communications efforts including the national product launch of Sprint’s first eco-friendly wireless device. This launch campaign was selected as a finalist by PR News for “Best Green PR Campaign” at the 2010 CSR Awards. At Sprint Alex also launched the company’s @SprintGreenNews twitter feed and managed all external communications and media relations for Sprint’s sustainability and green initiatives including wireless recycling, GHG reduction, sustainable product design, alternative energy use, green products and services and employee engagement.
Prior to Sprint, Alex was recruited by the team owner to build a community relations program from the ground up for the Washington Redskins including the establishment of the team’s non-profit foundation. As Director of Charitable Foundation and Community Affairs for six years, Alex oversaw the creation of the team’s five signature community outreach programs, worked to engage Redskins players in charitable activities and managed relationships with team sponsors, local media and government officials.
Alex started his professional career in Boston with Arnold Public Relations, working on accounts including McDonald’s and Volkswagen of North America. For McDonald’s he managed media relations, crisis communications, new product launches and served as the Foundation Manager for two local Ronald McDonald House Charities Chapters in New England. As Foundation Manager his responsibilities included community outreach, corporate grant making and working with local Ronald McDonald Houses on special events and external affairs.
A graduate of Bates College in Lewiston, Maine Alex currently resides in Falls Church, Virginia with his wife and new daughter and is active in the DC community serving on the boards of the Boys & Girls Club of Fairfax County and Leadership Greater Washington.
Alex is an avid weather buff who has been known to watch weather coverage for hours on end. When not glued to NOAA weather radar, Alex enjoys golfing and cheering on the Washington Redskins.
