Prior to joining VOX, Corey served as a director of specialty media for The White House communications team serving as a principle media liaison for President Barack Obama, members of the White House executive staff, and Senior Administration Officials. In this role he developed and implemented targeted communications strategies for the Administration’s most significant initiatives including the Recovery Act, health care reform and Wall Street reform. Corey held the same position during the 2008 Obama-Biden General Election Campaign.
Additional national political experience includes serving as the national regional political director and on-the-record spokesperson in the state of Ohio for the 2004 Kerry-Edwards presidential campaign. Corey began his career in politics as a member of the communications staff for Bill Bradley’s presidential campaign in 2000.
His political work also includes a number of congressional races across the country including managing the successful campaign of U.S. Representative Artur Davis of Alabama’s 7th Congressional District in 2002. Corey later served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director for Congressman Davis responsible for constituency communications, media relations and issue advocacy associated with the congressman’s committees including Ways & Means, Judiciary and Financial Services.
Corey is a graduate of the University of Alabama where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Political Communications.
Corey served with the 3rd United States Infantry (The Old Guard), the U.S. Army Ceremonial Honor Guard for the President of the United States, which conducts funerals in Arlington National Cemetery, and guards the Tomb of the Unknown. During his rare down time, he enjoys spending time with family.
