Derek leads development at VOX. He engineers award-winning websites and applications in close collaboration with colleagues and clients. He brings beautiful, modern designs to life on all devices and platforms (including Internet Explorer). He helps clients navigate the ever-changing technical landscape and solve complex challenges.

Derek is a full-stack developer versed in applying front-end and back-end technologies to make a lasting impact for Fortune 100 companies. With more than 7 years of development experience, he has worked extensively with HTML5, CSS3, SASS, JavaScript mapping libraries, various APIs, WordPress, Drupal, Adobe CQ/AEM and custom PHP and .NET applications. In addition to development, he has a background in marketing and provides guidance on the technical side of SEO and analytics.

Previously, Derek worked for d’Vinci Interactive, an established eLearning vendor with a client list that includes the National Institutes of Health, the National Park Service and a variety of commercial brands. He also worked on the Washington-Moscow hotline as a contractor for Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc. and served 5 years active duty in the US Army in Europe. He speaks fluent Russian as well as some Ukrainian. His experience on the hotline translated well as the inaugural bearer of the VOX red phone for exceptional Client Service.

Derek is actively pursuing a Masters in Software Engineering when not pursuing his toddler at home, so his free time is quite limited. He occasionally finds time to play hockey and has volunteered several times for the Washington Capitals Ice Crew.
