New Survey Finds Americans Expect More from Employers Coming Out of Pandemic

Earlier this month, VOX Global commissioned Atomik Research to conduct an online survey of American adults. Our intent was to take the pulse of Americans on a variety of topics in hopes that their responses might prove useful to companies as they plan to re-open operations amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In our survey of 1,010 Americans – representative of the U.S. census for gender, age and region – we found a number of interesting insights leaders should consider as they strive to meet the expectations of various stakeholders. Some of the highlights include:

  • Company leaders should be aware of heightened expectations Americans may place on them depending on how they benefited during the pandemic. Nearly three quarters (74%) of Americans believe that companies receiving federally funded coronavirus relief packages have a responsibility to give back to society through corporate responsibility programs.
  • Expectations for more diverse and inclusive workplaces were already high before the pandemic. But, leaders should know that two thirds of Americans (67%) say employers should increase their efforts to create diverse and inclusive workplace cultures as we come out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Employees expect their employers to treat them well and communicate with them effectively. That’s certainly true at this time, but only half (49%) agree their employer is clearly communicating how their company will operate differently once operations re-open.

If you’re interested in learning more about the results from our survey, including ways that your organization can deploy employee engagement, diversity and inclusion, or corporate social responsibility communication programs, please contact us at info@voxglobal.com.
