VOX Global’s Emily Sandberg Wins Young Professional Award

Campaigns with Learn More Indiana, Lumina Foundation and YES Indy recognized with Pinnacle Awards

The Hoosier Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) announced Emily Sandberg,

managing supervisor at VOX Global, as the 2020 Young Professional Award recipient at its annual Pinnacle Awards ceremony, which was held virtually on August 19. VOX Global’s campaigns with Lumina Foundation, YES Indy (an initiative of EmployIndy) and Learn More Indiana were also recognized at the event with Pinnacle Awards.

Sandberg joined VOX in 2013 after working in national marketing and community relations for C-SPAN throughout the 2012 election cycle.
“Within VOX, Emily is respected as a young professional who has the experience of a seasoned counselor, and we’re thrilled to see her work recognized statewide through the Young Professional Award,” said Mike Marker, managing director at VOX Global. “She is intellectually curious and has an impressive drive to continually expand her capabilities. We’re honored to have Emily as a valued peer mentor, practice group leader and an exceptional contributor to our culture.”
Each year one junior public relations professional under 30 is selected for the award. Key criteria include demonstrating excellence through a strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Sandberg brings her strategic communications experience to bear for several mission-driven clients, including Lumina Foundation, Conexus Indiana, United Way of Central Indiana, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, Glick Philanthropies, the Indianapolis Zoological Society and more. She has led integrated communications campaigns on numerous issues, such as early childhood education access, bias crimes legislation and healthcare access for patients of color.
Sandberg is a member of VOX Global’s education/nonprofit, advocacy and social media practices. She graduated Phi Beta Kappa from DePauw University with a bachelor’s degree in English and a concentration in media studies.
Along with Sandberg’s recognition, the following projects from VOX Global were recognized with Pinnacle Awards at the ceremony:

Learn More Indiana, Magazine Design and Content Creation:

To help Hoosier students prepare for education and training beyond high school, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education enlisted VOX Global to produce its annual Learn More Indiana magazines. VOX leveraged research about Gen Z and Gen Alpha design preferences to produce fun, dynamic content that engaged a young audience in their college and career planning. QR codes embedded throughout the magazines drove a nearly 400% increase in traffic to LearnMoreIndiana.org.

Lumina Foundation, Social Media Campaign:

VOX Global and Lumina Foundation developed a social media campaign surrounding a Democratic presidential debate in Atlanta to broaden the national, bipartisan conversation about the importance of education beyond high school and engage Americans in the core tenets of Lumina’s strategic agenda. The campaign produced 787,012 impressions and 24,393 engagements.

YES Indy, Program Awareness:

Indianapolis has 30,000 young people who are disconnected from school or work. These “Opportunity Youth” represent a tremendous source of talent that, if unleashed, would help address looming workforce needs in our city. EmployIndy hired VOX Global to help grow awareness of the program so they could build a future pipeline of participants.
