Jonathan brings nearly fifteen years of experience managing communications initiatives in political, governmental and higher education settings to his work on behalf of VOX clients.
Jonathan provides comprehensive communications counsel for organizations seeking to raise their public profile, position themselves as thought leaders, and strengthen their reputation. He also co-chairs VOX’s Diversity & Inclusion Practice Group, counseling organizations that are implementing new D&I initiatives, announcing new and more inclusive policies, or seeking to strengthen engagement with employees and key stakeholders.
Prior to joining VOX, he served as Chief of Staff and Associate Vice President for Communications at DePauw University, a nationally-regarded liberal arts college. He has also held communications roles on Capitol Hill and at the U.S. Department of Defense.
At VOX, he leads teams focused on message development, media relations, thought leadership, content strategy, digital, and crisis communications. His current and past clients range from research institutions like Indiana University, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to liberal arts colleges such as DePauw University and Beloit College and institutions like Strayer University that serve primarily adult learners. He also supports international institutions such as Mexico’s CETYS University and advocacy organizations such as the National Panhellenic Conference and Complete College America.
Outside of higher education, Jonathan has helped clients navigate high-profile situations regarding LGBT rights – including providing counsel for organizations adopting transgender-inclusive membership policies and others taking a public stand against employment-discrimination.
Jonathan has also supported the McDonald’s Archways to Opportunity initiative, contributed to VOX’s support for Bank of America, and led VOX’s work with St. Vincent, the largest brand and hospital system within Ascension Health.
On Capitol Hill, he served as press secretary to a leading member of the House Financial Services Committee. At the Pentagon, Jonathan supported the events and corporate partnership work of America Supports You, an outreach initiative designed to connect military families with dozens of non-profit homefront groups. He has also staffed television operations at multiple presidential nominating conventions.
At DePauw, Jonathan led a comprehensive re-brand of the 175-year old institution, managed the university’s creative and editorial teams, directed executive communication, and led the public phase launch of the Campaign for DePauw, a $300 million fundraising campaign.
Jonathan studied political science and media studies at DePauw University and earned a Master of Arts in Communication from The Johns Hopkins University. He is also a former Trustee of DePauw University. When not supporting the work of VOX clients, Jonathan can be found with his dogs Gibson and Ruthie, training with friends at Crossfit Naptown, or tempting fate testing a new recipe in the kitchen.
